Looking for some indoor fun this coming Saturday? Museum Day Live! is back, giving individuals the opportunity visit one of over 1,200 museums nationwide for free! Hosted by Smithsonian magazine, Museum Day Live! grants ticket holders and one additional guest free general admission to participating locations on September 24th. Special exhibits, IMAX experiences, etc. are excluded from this offer.
Interested individuals can register online at Museum Day Live! and print a ticket to the participating museum of their choice. Tickets are limited to one per household, per email address. Museums can be searched for by state, zip code or keyword, or zoom in on the interactive map to find one in your general area!
Locally, The Hershey Story as well as the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) Museum are participating in this program. At The Hershey Story, guests will have access to the main museum as well as the interactive exhibit "Chocolate Workers Wanted." The Chocolate Lab and Tasting experience are available for a fee. Hours on Saturday will be 9am to 5pm. At this location, guests can show their Museum Day Live! ticket on a smartphone for admission. A printed ticket is not required.
The AACA Museum, a Smithsonian affiliate, will be open 9am to 5pm. Current exhibits include Steampunk U, Early Off-Roaders and Mods vs Rockers in addition to their permanent exhibits. Kids loves the model train exhibit "From Roads to Rails." Guests to the museum will also receive a Caramel Peanut Butter Gelato Swirl treat during their visit, compliments of Turkey Hill Dairy! Available while supplies last.
In addition, guests will be able to enjoy Corvair Days, hosted by the Central PA Corvair Club, from 8:00am to 3:30pm. This one-day outdoor special event will include a people's choice car show, awards, door prizes and an indoor scavenger hunt. Vendors and food stands will have products for sale. In the case of inclement weather, Corvair Days will take place on Sunday, September 25th (Museum Day Live! will still occur on Saturday the 24th). A printed ticket is required for free general admission inside the museum. Outdoor activities are free to attend.
